Forsyth, Missouri Travel Guide

Once located at what is now known as Shadowrock Park, Forsyth was previously a vitally important river town during the early 1800’s, and was the center of intense fighting during the Civil War between Union and Confederate forces that led to a repeated cycle of destruction and rebuilding of the town.

Following the flood of Bull Shoals Dam in 1950, Forsyth was moved to its current location: nestled between the folds of the gorgeous and ebbing Lake Taneycomo, which winds its way through Branson like a river.

Because there is much to do and see in the area, we have created this handy Forsyth travel guide to help you plan out your visit. Read on to learn more about the most fun Forsyth spots, filled with exciting activities and attractions that await visitors who decide to stay in this lovely Branson suburb.

Forsyth Spots for Activities and Sightseeing

Forsyth, Missouri has the fortune of being located not only within the stunning beauty of the Ozarks, but of also having easy access to a number of cool things to do and places to see.

White River Coffee is the perfect place to begin the day with a delicious cup of coffee, while Yummy Donuts makes for a sugary, decadent breakfast, snack, or dessert.

For the outdoor enthusiast, picking a place to go in the area really depends on how much of an adrenaline rush you’re looking for.

Adrenaline junkies can drive a short distance northwest and find Branson Zipline, which provides a thrilling experience that will make for incredible memories as you reach top speeds over the treetops. You can wind down from the zipline by exploring the Hercules Glades Wilderness Area to the east or hitting the nearby trails for hiking and biking. Two popular trails include Bull Shoals Lake Trail, which leads from Shadowrock Park to Empire Park, and the Boston Ferry Conservation Area Trail.

In between all of this excitement, you’ll probably get a craving for some wholesome local cuisine. Fat Daddy’s Family BBQ has a reputation for representing authentic Missouri barbeque, while the intriguing fusion of flavors at Chinese Mexican Burrito is sure to delight your palate.

If you feel drawn to the peaceful and calming nature of time spent on the water, nearby Lake Taneycomo has a number of boat launching areas located at Shadowrock Park, Empire Park, and Rockaway Beach Park. You can go boating and fishing on Lake Taneycomo, or even take a ferry for a lovely cruise that serves lunch or dinner—sometimes with a show!

Lake Taneycomo is also adjacent to the designer boutiques, lively entertainment, and delicious restaurants at Branson Landing—an outdoor mall which is famous for its elaborate fountain shows that combine water features, lighting, music, and fire in a display to rival the Bellagio in Las Vegas. In fact, this dynamic water feature was designed by the same people who built the Bellagio fountains!
